¿Porous Media in multiphase flow on CFX5.6?

Hi,
I have used in the past, CFX4.4 for running a simulation using porous media within part of the domain in a multiphase flow. However, in order to decide should I have to migrate yet or not, I need know if CFX5.6 could do the same. If so, could anybody let me know how to set it up? Regards, L.R. |

Yes. CFX-5 can do the same.

Thanks, but please let me know more details; i.e., do I have to set the porous region up as a sub-domain?, Does the concept of volume porosity exist?
I did declare the porous region as a sub-domain and set up the permeability as a resistance force (momentum resistance) in that region, but still it appears to be a wall and don't let the fluid pass through. Thanks, LR |

Hi, Luis
In CFX5, as you did, you can use a sub-domain to represent a porous medium in CFX4, set momentum resistances rather than volume porosity and resistance constance. The sub-domain with momentum resistances should have the similar performance as the porous medium in CFX4. Not sure if you have a specific pressure drop after the sub-domain to achieve, if you just want to block the momentum, you need to select sensible values of resistance for the sub-domain Hope this helps Regards, Forrest |
