Dear Jan,

We use CFX 5.5.1 with RedHat 7.3. This works OK, including distributed parallel calculations with WinNT and Win2000.

We do not expect any problems with RedHat 8.*. Do you know thing we don't know?

No, I have just asked CFX if they support Redhat 8.0 and the reply was,

"We do not yet have any experience of CFX-4 and CFX-5 under Linux RedHat 8.*."

My IT department has now installed version 8 so I guess I will know. (They asked my which version I would like, I said 7, they replied we have 6 or 8 )). I said wait I will check with CFX and I returned to them and said for safety use 6, they answered we have installed 8 )) - Final

Regards Jan

Hi Jan,
I was wondering if really matters the distribution of Linux and its version. We run CFX-5 including distributed parallel under Slackware 8.1 and we did not find any problems at all.

Thanks, Nor do I expect any problems, but it would be stupid as a total newbie to Linux to select a version which might have given experienced user problems. So I just wanted to check out. Regards Jan

The different Linux cores are very similar (among different brands and versions) as fas as I know so little difficulties should be expeceted, in principles.
