Hi all,

I am attempting a structured mesh in ICEM for a simple pipe (parabola with a flat base).

I however cannot get the mesh between surfaces correct (second picture), are there any tutorials for pipe flow with external and internal meshes? (if that makes sense!)

Also I was generating the mesh on the pipe by deleting blocks (between internal and external surface) and associating edges to surface, I haven't merged any verticies and am stuck with how to map the top.

Many thanks Far,

I have attempted (a lot of times!) using o-grid (half and full) hoever I get a similar error each time (volume error) but the volumes appear to be ok (fluent confirms the error though.) I am not sure where I am going wrong with blocking.

I see some error on one of the surfaces. Also you need to maker to one outer O-grid.

Here is the blocking for you Some adjustments in edge sizing is required. Also move some vertices to make the quality better.

Do you feel like this while working with ICEM Hexa

Some images from attached blocking :

Many thanks Far!

I had a look at the mesh and it looks good, I still get volume errors though. I am starting to think it is impossible not to get them!

I think I did! How do you turn on/off solids?

It is on left side in parts. It was made when I changed material to solid.

Are you going to model heat transfer?

Many thanks! Do you need to create solids rather than deleting blocks? and yes it will be for heat transfer in fluent.

Both methods are same. But I am comfortable with "solid" method as it helps in making O-grid.

I checked mesh in Fluent and no negative volume is there.
