SIMPLE algorithm), how to copy and compile a solver, add an
equation to existing solver, add source terms involving
surface interpolation. In addition, introduction to C++

correction.

Description:

Dr Darrin Stephens will deliver this three-day course at the
training facility located close to Melbourne CBD.
Participants in the course will learn the layout of the
OpenFOAM library, understanding of pressure-velocity
coupling (steady-state SIMPLE algorithm), how to copy and
compile a solver, add an equation to existing solver, add
source terms involving surface interpolation. In addition,
introduction to C++ programming language, creation of the
new turbulence model as a part of the existing OpenFOAM
library with curvature correction. Lastly, the ability to
read the OpenFOAM library without fear, removing the FUD
(fear, uncertainty and doubt) that grips most new users.

The methodology employed consists of a series of lectures
that provide a general understanding of OpenFOAM topics
followed by hands-on work. This training focuses on the
OpenFOAM Foundation version 2.1.1 of OpenFOAM.

Day 1

Introduction,
C++ introduction,
OpenFOAM library layout,
Anatomy of simpleFoam and pressure-velocity coupling theory.

Day 2

Compiliation of OpenFOAM solvers and utilities,
Hand-on examples,
C++ classes and inheritance.

Day 3

Creating a new turbulence model, programming, compiling and
running,
Boundary condition code walk through,
Function object creation.

A hard copy of the training notes will be provided together
with a USB stick with a working copy of the OpenFOAM and
workshop files from the course. For hands-on examples,
