A distinguishing feature of Systems CFD codes is that it enables the user to build detailed discretized multi-dimensional models of complex components such as heat exchangers, solid structures, steam plant boilers, high temperature gas-cooled reactors (HTGR) and gas turbine combustion chambers.

A range of special elements representing various types of flow passages (pipes, flow through porous media, annuli, compressor stage, etc.) and heat transfer mechanisms (conduction, convection and radiation) are also provided to enable the user to construct discretized component models.
