Description:

This hybrid event, offering both online and on-site participation, is an unparalleled opportunity to explore the latest advancements and ongoing research in the dynamic field of turbulent combustion.

Designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of this complex subject, the series will commence with the state-of-the-art review of on-going activities and applications of turbulent combustion and to outline current research directions. After the introductory lectures on the fundamentals of combustion, and in particular of turbulent combustion, participants will delve into cutting-edge experimental techniques and numerical modeling approaches, exploring their applications in single and two-phase flows with liquid and solid fuels. Topics such as combustion in gas turbines, boilers, and critical fire and safety issues will be thoroughly addressed by leading experts in the field.

In addition to gaining insights from renowned researchers, participants are encouraged to contribute to the academic lectures by presenting their own work. A dedicated poster session will allow attendees to showcase their research, fostering a collaborative environment where ideas and innovations can thrive. A pdf-file of the poster should be submitted to vanbeeck@vki.ac.be (Jeroen van Beeck) before 31 March 2025.

The directors of the lecture series are Prof. L. Vervisch of INSA de Rouen and CNRS CORIA (France) and Dr. Veynante of CNRS and Ecole Centrale Paris (France). The local coordinator is Jeroen van Beeck of the von Karman Institute.

We are honored to have an exceptional lineup of lecturers. Each will offer not only a review of current methodologies but also a forward-looking perspective on future challenges and emerging trends in turbulent combustion.
