Rotor Dynamics and Bearing Design Online Course
This course provides education by covering everything from basic definitions and the role of rotor dynamics in machines to lateral and torsional analyses as well as rotor balancing.
Date: November 14, 2017 - November 17, 2017
Location: United States
Web Page: http://www.softinway.com/education/online-training/rotordynamics-bearings-design/
Organizer: SoftInWay
Type of Event: Course, International

Description:

Rotating machinery plays a vital role in the power and transportation industries among others. Bearing in mind that the most vital component of these types of devices is logically the rotor, it is important for mechanical engineers and engineering managers to have a thorough understanding of rotor dynamic analysis and optimization. This course provides that education by covering everything from basic definitions and the role of rotor dynamics in machines to lateral and torsional analyses as well as rotor balancing.

To accompany all this theoretical knowledge a strong emphasis is also made on hand exercises and software use which allow the attendees to apply the concepts presented and help with the retention and understanding of the information provided. Software exercises will be performed using SoftInWay’s AxSTREAM® platform and covers the full design process of turbomachinery, including rotor dynamics and bearing analysis.

The course scope includes:

  • An introduction to rotor dynamics
  • Definition of terms related to rotor dynamics
  • History of rotor dynamics
  • Equivalent discrete systems
  • Jeffcott rotor analytical and numerical analyses
  • Effect of structural supports
  • Rolling element bearings
  • Gas bearings
  • Journal bearings (sleeve, fixed and tilting pads)
  • Radial and axial load bearings
  • Methods for rotor dynamics analysis
  • Rolling element bearings
  • Journal bearings and gas bump bearings
  • Lateral rotor dynamics including static gravity, critical speed analysis, critical speed map, unbalance response, stability analysis, etc.
  • Torsional rotor dynamics
  • Rotor balancing

Who should attend:

  • Mechanical engineers and engineering managers looking to learn or refresh their knowledge on rotor dynamics
  • Engineers looking to receive training with SoftInWay’s tools for the design, analysis and optimization of rotor dynamics systems
  • Engineering students and professors looking to expand their knowledge
