Webinar: Low-Cost Optimization of Flue Gas Desulfurization Equipment
With the high expense of compliance for SOx limits in the Clean Air Interstate Rule (CAIR), operators are looking for low cost methods to get the most out of their existing pollution control equipment. This webinar will present some of the basics of scrubber and duct fluid mechanics, mass and heat transfer, as well as methods for assuring uniform flow distribution in ducts and flue gas clean-up equipment.

Description:

July 10, 2:00 EDT - Duration 1 hour

With the high expense of compliance for SOx limits in the
Clean Air Interstate Rule (CAIR), operators are looking for
low cost methods to get the most out of their existing
pollution control equipment. In some cases, this may avoid
significant capital expenditures through the addition of new
equipment, and in other cases it may add revenue by allowing
the sale of SOx credits.

Flow and thermal distribution is often the key to optimizing
Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) equipment. If, for example,
flow is skewed to one side of a scrubber, one risks limited
SOx reduction through a maldistribution of spray. We will
discuss some of the basics of scrubber and duct fluid
mechanics, mass and heat transfer, as well as methods for
assuring uniform flow distribution in ducts and flue gas
clean-up equipment.

Presenters:
Dr. David Schowalter, ANSYS, Inc.
