The multiscale, multiphysics modeling of electrochemical systems lab in Mechanical Engineering, University of Massachusetts, Lowell is searching for 1 enthusiastic Ph.D. candidates in the area of energy storage and conversion. The successful candidate will use mulitscale and multiphysics model and experiment coupling method to explore fundamental transport, kinetic mechanisms, electrochemical- mechanical coupling of solid oxide electrolysis cells with synthetic or reconstructed microstructures. The specific application includes solid oxide electrolysis cells/fuel cells, mixed ionic and electronic conducting membrane reactors. Skills/Qualifications: • Required: Hold a MS in Engineering, with a minimum graduate GPA of 3.250. • Required: A prior background with any electrochemical systems, such as fuel cells, batteries. • Required: Proficient with Comsol/ANSYS, Matlab, Auto CAD/Solidworks. • Desired: Experience with Dream3D, ISOMESH, imaging processing, cluster computing. Candidates should have a M.S. in engineering related field. This is a four-year position supported with full tuition coverage and a yearly stipend.
