Glaucoma is the most common cause of irreversible blindness worldwide, and the second cause of blindness overall after cataracts. In 2016, the estimated average annual total cost of NHS-provided glaucoma care was £405 per patient in the UK. The development of novel implants for glaucoma drug release has the potential to alleviate this burden. This project will focus on developing a multiphysics mathematical model as a platform for testing novel implants for glaucoma drug release. The ideal candidate should be proficient on CFD modelling using commercial software such as Fluent, COMSOL etc and hold degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering. International applicants welcome. Start date: approximately October 2024. |
