The Chair for Simulation and Modeling of Metallurgical Processes (SMMP) at Montanuniversität Leoben, Austria, is eagerly searching for a passionate and skilled individual to join our research group. We invite applications from highly motivated candidates to contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) applied to metallurgical processes such as ESR, VAR, and EAF. Candidates must hold a PhD or have an interest in obtaining a PhD. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing our understanding of the interplay between flow and magnetic fields, as known as the fascinating magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) phenomena. This project promises exciting challenges and the opportunity to make significant contributions to the field. Requirements: We are seeking candidates with a background in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, mathematics, metallurgy, materials science, or related disciplines. Key qualifications include a strong interest and some experience in numerical process simulations, coupled with programming proficiency in C++ especially with CFD software like OpenFoam or ANSYS-FLUENT or others. Fluency in English is a prerequisite for this position, as effective communication is essential to our collaborative research environment. Familiarity with the German language is considered advantageous. We Offer: A 1-year full-time position at Montanuniversität Leoben, starting from March 1, 2024. There's potential for extending the project for several more years based on the employee's performance, offering a lasting and fulfilling opportunity for your career development. The salary for this position aligns with the Austrian Standard, (40 000 euro/year for PhD, ~65 000 for highly qualified Postdocs), ensuring financial stability for our team members.
