Description: | |
Master thesis: The Apollo Blast Simulator developed at EMI is used to numerically model complex transient flow phenomena such as blast wave propagation. This tool can be used to create meaningful forecasts that are used in the safety assessment of refineries and chemical plants. The pressure waves usually result from detonating gas clouds. The characteristics of the blast wave and the damage to the surrounding buildings can depend on the boundary layer that forms above the ground. Currently, blast wave propagation is calculated in the Apollo blast simulator without a boundary layer. As part of this master thesis a corresponding turbulence and wall model is to be implemented and validated in the Apollo Blast simulator. | |
