We are pleased to announce that applications are now open for Post-Doc positions in the fields of wind engineering, computational fluid dynamics, and bluff body aerodynamics. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to join an active research team led by Dr. Gang Hu, who is a Professor at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Harbin Institute of Technology in Shenzhen, China. In addition, the selected candidates will work closely with renowned wind engineering teams from The University of Sydney and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) is a renowned research university and a member of China's elite C9 League. HIT is a Class A Double First Class University recognized by the Chinese Ministry of Education, consistently ranked among the top universities in the country, with a focus on science and engineering. U.S. News ranked HIT 6th in the Best Global Universities for Engineering from 2017 to 2022. HIT is one of only a few universities in the world that have developed, constructed, and launched their own satellites, and it excels in missile technology. HIT has three campuses, located from north to south: the Harbin campus in Heilongjiang Province, the Weihai campus in Shandong Province, and the Shenzhen campus in Guangdong Province. If the application is approved, the person will work at the Shenzhen Campus, which is situated in a leading global technology hub known as the next Silicon Valley and China's Silicon Valley, with the world's third busiest container port. Shenzhen was ranked 9th in the 2019 Global Financial Centres Index. Job Description: The successful candidate will mainly work on the following field: * Wind effects on structures * Application of machine learning and deep learning in wind engineering and fluid mechanics * Fluid-structure interactions * Numerical simulation of flow around bluff bodies using CFD models Qualifications * A candidate with a PhD (or near completed) degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Aerospace or Applied Mathematics is required. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated by presentation of research results at conferences and through publication; ability to perform independent research and a commitment to interdisciplinary research. * Excellent programming skills (Python, Matlab…) * Experiences with wind engineering and machine learning are desired but not essential. * Published 2 or 3 papers (Minimum) in JCR Q1 journals as the first author or corresponding author; * Obtained a PhD degree from the global top 500 universities within 3 years. * Age limit: Below 35 years. Salary package The salary and benefits are internationally competitive and commensurate with each candidate's experience. In addition, the applicant satisfies one of the following conditions can apply ‘Overseas high-level talent program’ of Shenzhen government. Once successful, he/she will obtain total 1.6 million subsidies after tax. This subsidy will pay 320K each year to the successful applicant for 5 years.
