It depends on how you installed OpenFOAM. If you installed according to the instructions given here: http://www.openfoam.org/download/ubuntu.php - then you will probably have to rebuild from source code. If you built from source code in the first place, then it depends between which versions of Ubuntu you updated. Usually it's possible to continue using the compiled OpenFOAM without problems. Unless you need to build your own custom libraries or applications that link directly to OpenFOAM, in which case it's advisable to rebuild from source code once again. Best regards, Bruno
