Good morning!
I wanted to test the new beta options in CFX 17.1: "Monitor Run with CFD-POST (beta)" while the calculation is still ongoing. So far, I found out that this is only possible on user surfaces. (Is that correct?) Those are the steps I took: - I created 3 user surfaces in Post (such as a YX-plane), - exported them to a *.csv file, - imported them in PRE as user surfaces - created 'Monitor Surfaces' - added the 3 user surfaces (output frequency: every timestep, variable: velocity in stn frame) - wrote solver input file - started solver After one outer loop, the calculation stops with the following message (complete, censored out-file attached) Code:
Parallel run: Received message from slave ----------------------------------------- Slave partition : 3 Slave routine : ErrAction Master location : Message Handler Message label : 001100279 Message follows below - : +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ | ERROR #001100279 has occurred in subroutine ErrAction. | | Message: | | Stopped in routine Write_SurfaceUser | | | | | | | | | | | +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ | ERROR #001100279 has occurred in subroutine MESG_RETRIEVE. | | Message: | | Stopping the run due to error(s) reported above | Any ideas how I could solve this problem? Thanks in advance. Best, Maxim |

If you are testing a new beta option it is unlikely the forum can help you. You will need to contact ANSYS support. And this is especially the case if you have found a bug, as the purpose of testing beta features is to find bugs and you should report it to get it fixed.

I have just experienced the same issue, however I got the error message after ~430 time steps. I had heard from colleagues prior to attempting to use this feature that it's less robust when trying to monitor more than one surface.
Did you find a definitive answer as to what causes this? |

No, I gave up after a few tries. I haven't used that feature any more since then.
When it comes to monitoring, CFX is really lacking behind StarCCM+ and OpenFOAM. |

Shame. Thanks for letting me know. Due to other constraints, I'm tied to CFX for now. Hopefully I can find a way such that I don't upset it. Cheers
