Hi everybody,
I'm using Star-CCM and wants to visualize my results in ParaView 3.2.1 on an OpenSuse11.0. I exported the results from Star-CCM to ensight format. Paraview can open this case file, but when appliying and importing the mesh and the results I get following errormsg: ERROR: In /home/berk/Work/ReleaseBuilds/ParaView3/VTK/IO/vtkEnSightReader.cxx, line 304 vtkEnSightGoldBinaryReader (0x8cb59f8): error reading geometry file ... when I use BigEndian. When using LittleEndian my Paraview will crash: ERROR: In /home/berk/Work/ReleaseBuilds/ParaView3/VTK/IO/vtkEnSightReader.cxx, line 304 vtkEnSightGoldBinaryReader (0x8cb59f8): error reading geometry file .. Executing with 0 Speicherzugriffsfehler My mesh contains 1332 hexahedral cells 15 wedge cells 44174 polyhedral cells 45521 cells total 3265 halo cells 220124 interior faces (6042 triangular, 115428 quadrilateral, 98654 polygonal) (216192 serial faces) 162264 vertices (154564 serial vertices) Does anybody know the reason for that? A structure analysis ensight file works. Thanks a lot for any answers Best Regards, Benny |

Paraview does not support polyhedrals.

Ok, thanks. Is there an other opensource program which is able to visualize my Star results with polyhedrals?

I don't know of any other open source visualizers that work with polyhedral cells but the obvious question is since you obviously have STAR-CCM+ why don't you just post-process in STAR-CCM+?

You can use the paraview3.3-beta. It supports polyhedral cells. However, they can not be displayed correct only the surface patches (polyhedral shells). Other thinks should go fine.

Of course, if you have STARCD licenses (and not just some results), you can also load the ccmg/ccmp files in STARCCM+ and use that for the post-processing. |
